07.07.16 Events this summer during your canal boat holidays

  1. Floating canal boat market, Bradford-on-Avon

On Saturday 30th July there will be a floating canal market at the bottom of Bradford-on-Avon lock featuring an eclectic mix of traders such as textiles, artwork, photography, crafts and even a canal boat hair salon! So if you're heading towards Bath on your narrowboat holiday stop off here for some fun and a spot of shopping!

  1. Pewsey Carnival, Pewsey

Pewsey carnival really shouldn't be missed if you're on the Kennet and Avon canal in September – the town comes to life with colour and atmosphere. On the 15th of September is the famous Wheelbarrow race. Basically you dress up in the most outrageous and imaginative costumes you can think of and push your wheelbarrow to each pub en-route – drinking a pint of beer at each one by one of your team at each stop! The best part is you can moor your boat in Pewsey - so staggering back in the wee hours isn't too much of a problem. If you see a wheelbarrow that looks like a big green canalboat then say hi!
